Rosa Parks was an African American civil rights activist who became known for her role in the Montgomery bus boycott. She was born in Tuskegee, Alabama, on February 4, 1913. Her parents were James and Leona McCauley. Rosa had two brothers and one sister.

Rosa's family moved to Montgomery, Alabama, when she was two years old. She attended Montgomery Industrial School for Girls and graduated in 1933. After graduating, Rosa worked as a seamstress.

In 1943, Rosa married Raymond Parks, a barber. The couple did not have any children.

In 1955, Rosa Parks became involved in the civil rights movement. She joined the Montgomery chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP). NAACP, Rosa worked to desegregate Montgomery's buses.

On December 1, 1955, Rosa Parks was arrested for refusing to give up her seat on a bus to a white man. Her arrest sparked the Montgomery bus boycott, which lasted for 381 days. The boycott ended when the Supreme Court ruled that segregation on buses was unconstitutional.

After the Montgomery bus boycott, Rosa Parks continued to work for civil rights. She worked with Martin Luther King, Jr., and other leaders of the movement. Rosa Parks also wrote an autobiography, Rosa Parks: My Story.

Rosa Parks died on October 24, 2005, at the age of 92. She is buried in Detroit, Michigan.
