In a new interview, Alexandra Paul and Keith Gordon reflect on their roles in the 1983 film adaptation of Stephen King's Christine.
Alexandra Paul: I was 19 years old when I auditioned for the role of Leigh Cabot in Christine. I had just finished filming the movie Class, and I was looking for my next project. I remember reading the script for Christine and being immediately drawn to the character of Leigh. She was a strong, independent young woman who wasn't afraid to stand up for what she believed in. I also loved the fact that she was a tomboy and a bit of a rebel. I could really relate to her.
Keith Gordon: I was 17 years old when I auditioned for the role of Arnie Cunningham in Christine. I had just finished filming the movie Over the Edge, and I was looking for my next project. I remember reading the script for Christine and being immediately drawn to the character of Arnie. He was a shy, awkward teenager who was bullied by his classmates. I could really relate to him.
Alexandra Paul: When I first met Keith, I was immediately impressed by his intelligence and his talent. He was a very serious actor, and he was very committed to the role of Arnie. I knew that we would have a great working relationship.
Keith Gordon: When I first met Alexandra, I was immediately impressed by her beauty and her charisma. She was a very talented actress, and she was very easy to work with. I knew that we would have a great time making this movie together.
Alexandra Paul: The filming of Christine was a lot of fun. We shot the movie in the summer of 1982, and we had a great time working together. We all became very close friends, and we still keep in touch today.
Keith Gordon: The filming of Christine was a very challenging experience, but it was also very rewarding. We all worked very hard to make the movie as good as it could be, and I think we succeeded. I'm very proud of the work that we did on that movie.
Alexandra Paul: Christine is a special movie to me. It was my first starring role in a major motion picture, and it helped to launch my career. I'm so grateful to John Carpenter for giving me the opportunity to play Leigh Cabot. She's a character that I will always cherish.
Keith Gordon: Christine is a special movie to me too. It was the first movie that I ever starred in, and it helped to launch my career. I'm so grateful to John Carpenter for giving me the opportunity to play Arnie Cunningham. He's a character that I will always cherish.
Christine is a classic horror film that has stood the test of time. It's a coming-of-age story about a shy, awkward teenager who is bullied by his classmates. When he buys a 1958 Plymouth Fury, his life takes a dark turn. The car, named Christine, becomes his obsession, and it soon begins to possess him. Christine is a terrifying film that will stay with you long after the credits have rolled.
If you're a fan of horror movies, or if you're just looking for a great coming-of-age story, then I highly recommend watching Christine. It's a classic film that is still as relevant today as it was when it was first released in 1983.
